Expo is coming!-20-05-2010
The London MCM Expo is getting close! This is our favourite event, as there's so much to see and do, and the attendees (all ten billion of them, approximately) seem to like our stuff. Plus there's like a billion cosplayers, which is a sight not to be missed! If you're in London on 29-30 May, do pop along and experience the closest thing we have in the UK to Comic-con. Come to table K5 for our Tozzer comics or tables M13-14 for Cosplay Fever! See you there!!

We'll soon be adding more photos to the "Reportage" section in the gallery, from other more recent events. In the meantime, check out Matt's pics!

Yay for Kita! Next: Minami-30-03-2010
KITACON rocked! Thanks to all the cosplayers who posed for the CF cameras, and thanks to the staff for making it all happen:)
Next up we have Minami Con on 17-18 April - less than 3 weeks away! Ooh, should be fun. We've not been to this con before, but it's well regarded and very well established, being the oldest anime con in the UK, apparently! GO HERE NOW! You won't be able to register I'm afraid, as the con is fully booked, but at least you can see all the fun things that everyone else will be doing :P
Photo Shoots added to Gallery!-24-03-2010
Good news! We've now added the photo shoots from last year to the gallery section. We'll be continuing to expand and enhance the site in the coming weeks and months, so stick around :)
Go here!
Cosplay Cruise, Kita, MCM!-18-03-2010
COSPLAY ON A BOAT: Cosplay Fever will be attending the Cosplay Cruise this summer! This looks like a cracking event and is certainly unique. We're hoping to get some fab shots on the night, so if you fancy strutting your stuff (and posing for the CF cameras - although that's entirely optional!) then check it out and support this truly wonderful idea :)
http://www.cosplaycruise.co.uk/
KITACON APPROACHES: Our next event is the absolutely unmissable and generally fantastic Kitacon! You pretty much have to come if you know what the words "Cosplay" or "Anime" mean. There's still a handful of places left but they will go soon, so if you haven't booked yet you should make haste!
http://www.kitacon.org/
MCM EXPO: In a couple of months, it's the London MCM Expo. 10 billion cosplayers (give or take) vs 2 Cosplay Fever photographers. The odds are against us, but we'll do our best to snap the greatest talent that the UK has to offer. Ultra-unmissable!
http://www.londonexpo.com/

Interview with Ejen Chuang-18-02-2010
Here's an interview I did with Ejen, from the forthcoming book Cosplay in America. This was fun, and hopefully I didn't come across as too much of an idiot! Always a risk :P
Interview
Enjoy!

Telford approaches!-17-02-2010
This Saturday it's the MCM Midlands Expo, at Telford. Pete will be there snapping all you luverly cosplayers, so keep an eye out for the man with the big camera and clipboards. He won't bite, so do say hello and if you're dressed to impress, why not let him take a pic?
MCM Midlands is only one day but we've heard great things about it, it's only a fiver, and the cosplay potential looks good :)
Event website here: http://www.midlandsmcmexpo.com/
Welcome to CosplayFever.com!-15-02-2010
Ooh, look, a shiny new website! We've been promising the launch of CosplayFever.com for about a billion years, but finally the stars have aligned and we are live! Thank you so much to Kez for putting everything together, despite tons of other work pressures etc. I hope you all like the look of the site. We hope this is just the beginning for CosplayFever.com and we intend to tweak / add . enhance stuff in the cominc months.
If you have any feedback, or something doesn't seem to work properly then please let us know! We want to make sure everything runs smoothly and we hope you'll come back to see how things are developing. Oh, and you'll find more CF photos here than anywhere else :)
Cosplayfever (at) gmail.com is where you'll find us:)
No rest for the wicked!-05-11-2009
Thanks to everyone who popped by our stall at Expo! Much fun was had and many books found new homes. And we took some very cool pictures of the amazing costumes on display, so if you posed for us, you rawk. And thanks to the organisers for once again making Expo such a success. Well be back in May with Cosplay Fever book 2, and 3 tables - woo :)
Last weekend was the RBW furry gathering, and everyone was super-nice and accommodating. I felt a little out of place at first without a bushy tail, but I was welcomed with open arms by my anthropomorphic companions. Got a few great shots which will hopefully make it into CF2. Thanks to the organisers and special thanks to Sang Luna for helping spread the CF word! You can see her beautiful artwork here: www.sangluna.deviantart.com
On Saturday the 14th November, its the ALCL London event. Lots of cosplaying going on, with dealers, video gaming, DDR, anime screenings etc. Its just £5 entry, and Cosplay Fever will be there, taking photos for the next CF book. So dress to impress, and you could have your 15 minutes of fame - well a lot longer actually, as the books will be around for a while :)
More details here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=162387399034&index=1
The following weekend is a big one, with Thought Bubble in Leeds on Saturday 21st. Pete will be there, taking pictures and Genki Gear will be selling the CF book. TB is a much-loved event run by the nicest people on the planet - more info here: http://thoughtbubblefestival.com/contents.asp
And on that same weekend, 21-22 November, well be at the Birmingham NEC for Memorabilia. On the Sunday, Memorabilia is invaded by the COSPLAY ROADSHOW, with DDR and cosplay competitions and whatnot, so please come along! Well be at the Ablaze Media table, but also wandering around with our cameras and clipboards, in search of the finest cosplayers of the land! Go here for info: http://www.memorabilia.co.uk/
And its no rest for the wicked - just one week after Memorabilia, its the Grand Cosplay Ball (http://www.grandcosplayball.com) AND London Collectormania. Were definitely going to the ball, and hopefully well be at LC too - stay tuned for more details!
See you all soon!
Rob
Cosplay Fever book launch-22-10-2009
Well, the Cosplay Fever book launch has been and gone and what fun it was! Thank you so much to everyone who came along. It was great to see so many familiar faces, although recognising people can be a challenge when theyre wearing different wigs / masks / costumes / fursuits etc. There was a fantastic variety of cosplays on display, many of which have been snapped for possible inclusion in the next Cosplay Fever book :)
The Hi Sushi staff were very cool, and Caz handled the pressure well. Thanks to Caz, Geoff and everyone else for helping make the event a success.
We were lucky enough to have Gareth AKA DJ Highpriest on the decks for most of the day. He kicked arse, matched the mood perfectly and worked for many hours fuelled only by orange juice and awesomeness.
We were also graced by the lovely and talented singer Rica Minami, who performed with her band for an hour or so. “Rica and Friends” added a lot of class to the event. Please check out Ricas music, which really is divine, beautiful and worthy of the success which will surely follow: www.myspace.com/ricaminami - I hope when shes famous shell still come back and sing for us :)
Later on, the inimitable Emily Owusu took over as DJ, and she performed like a superstar. A superstar dressed as a wolf in a wedding dress, to be precise.
There are so many people to thank, so I wont list them all, but you know who you are and we loves ya! Sonia Leong, who wrote the foreword to the book, travelled down from Cambridge. The one-an-only (thank god!) Tony Lee and the enigmatic Dan Boultwood were also in attendance, doing their best to heckle us, which made things so much more fun :) Daley Osiyemi of Brodies Law fame came down from Luton, and its always great to see him again. And Matthew Chan kindly agreed to photograph the event - his fantastic shots will be revealed in due course!
Many people travelled across the country to be there, and we really appreciated that. And it was also very cool to see four of our six cover stars - Kerry, Kelly, Darrin and Jojo.
The press were in attendance too. A TV crew was there recording interviews with me and Pete, as well as various cosplayers. And a photographer from the Ham & High local paper took a group shot of us with our cosplaying friends, which I cant wait to see! Thanks also to David Monteith from Geek Syndicate for the write-up and podcast mention: (http://geeksyndicate.wordpress.com/2009/10/22/cosplay-fever-book-launch/ - click the link and you could even win a signed copy of the book!). It was also great to meet Alix from Bizarre, Andrew from SFX, Luke from Play.TM and our old friend Joel Meadows from Tripwire.
Congrats to Alex and Cheryl for their prize-winning cosplays. And a special congrats to Darrin for, yet again, being a cosplaying megastar. Darrin walked away with the “best cosplay” prize: a book, T-shirt and signed A2 print of the book cover - which actually features him in his Haseo cosplay. And no, the contest wasnt fixed :)
The only real negatives were the absence of Kerry Francis and Emily Bastian. Kerry was dressed in an amazing cosplay (Rachel from Ninja Gaiden) and she looked dazzling (see pic below!) but she wasnt well and had to leave very soon after arriving. Get well soon Kez!! Kerry is much loved by the Cosplay Fever team, and has been really helpful and supportive over the last few months. Emily Bastian is one of the organisers of the Grand International Cosplay Ball, and shes also been a big help to us recently. Sadly, she was at a funeral on Tuesday.
Speaking of the Cosplay Ball, well be going and it should be amazing. The baroque décor of the venue should make for some great shots for Cosplay Fever 2. The Ball is held at the Clapham Grand in south London, on November 29th. Dont miss it folks. http://www.grandcosplayball.com/
But next up, its Expo. More on that later tonight!
Thanks again, everyone! Virtual high fives all round.
Till the next time,
Rob n Pete

Book launch is coming!-16-10-2009
The Cosplay Fever book launch is this coming Tuesday! It looks like theres going to be loads of people there, many of whom will be in costume. What fun! Alongside the book launch, there will be a one day exhibition of photographs from the book. And well be taking photos of cosplayers for the sequel in the afternoon. If you appreciate beauty, passion and ingenuity, then please come on down to Hi Sushi in Camden from 1-6pm and check out what weve been up to for the last year or so.
Open invitation to the Cosplay Fever launch: http://www.cosplayfever.com/:
A few days after the launch is Fuyucon. Sadly, this clashes with Expo, but Pete is going there on the Friday, to see why so many people love this event. Next year, well be there for the whole weekend, so long as theres no more of this clashing nonsense! Thanks to Richard for being so hospitable. Heres the lowdown: http://www.fuyucon.org/
Did I mention Expo? Yes, on 24th-25th October its our biggest event of the year, the London MCM Expo. Well have 2 tables, a projector, at least one glamorous cosplaying assistant and copies of our shiny new Cosplay Fever book. Most of our time will be spent prowling the event with our cameras, looking for the best and most imaginative cosplayers in the land. Pics from the show will feature in Cosplay Fever 2, due to be launched in May 2010, just in time for the next MCM Expo :)
If youve never been to the MCM Expo before, you really are missing out on a unique experience, so grab your tickets here: http://www.londonexpo.com/
Wait a minute, before either the launch or Expo or Fuyucon, were heading up to Derby for J-Culture Con! Ooh, more travelling, what fun :) We may even have a few copies of Cosplay Fever with us, which may just possibly be on sale at the Genki Gear stall. J-Con is a one-day event, and it sounds like a heap of larfs, with plenty of cosplaying going on. Well be taking pics, of course, and well also be giving a talk about the birth of Cosplay Fever and our plans for the future. Exciting, no? Come on, get in the spirit!
Please come along if youre in the area! http://www.j-culturecon.co.uk/
Looking further ahead, we have the Animeleague Club London event on November 14th, which only costs a fiver and cosplay will be one of the main attractions. Theres a prize for the best costume. Winner: £50. Getting snapped for Cosplay Fever: Priceless. http://www.alclublondon.com/
One of the events were most looking forward to is the Grand International Cosplay Ball, the UKs biggest cosplay party and international cosplay event. This is on November 29th at the Clapham Grand, London. Its a really great setting, and the costumes on display look set to be amazing. Not surprisingly, people make a special effort to dress up, so we should get some stunning shots. The wonderful guys behind the Cosplay Ball will be at our launch too, helping out and selling cut-price tickets for their event, which will Im sure be even more successful than last years.
http://www.grandcosplayball.com/
Finally, weve just confirmed that well be guests at Kitacon in 2010. We had a great time at Kitacon this year, saw some very cool costumes and met some fab people. So, its great to be going back! This event is not to be missed: http://www.kitacon.org/home
So there you have it. And thats just a small selection of the events well be going to in the coming months. If theres no rest for the wicked, we must be wicked as hell.
Below is our current schedule in full, but more events will be added. Lots more!
We hope to see you soon!
Take it easy,

Book launch announcement-22-09-2009
If youre in the Cosplay Fever book, then you should have received an invitation to the book launch at around 9am this morning. So if we took your pic between March and July this year, and you didnt get an invite, check your spam box just in case!
Only about 1 in 3 people weve taken photos of have made it into the book, and sometimes weve had to omit photos because we messed up (camera shake, motion blur, bad lighting, fussy backgrounds etc !!), so dont feel bad if youre not in this time. Well be happy to snap you again at the next convention :)
Ok, technology isnt perfect, and emails can mysteriously disappear into cyberspace. So if you think you should have got an invite, for example if we already said you were chosen for the book, and you didnt receive anything, then please reply to this message. Tell us your full name and what character you were playing and we can look up your details to see for sure if youre in or not.
If you didnt get an invite, we would still love you to come along to the launch in the afternoon. From 1-6pm, the event will be open to the public, and well be taking photos of cosplayers for book 2.
Heres the details:
----
